What Katy Did (1872), the first of her five family sagas which she wrote between 18, has much in common with Little Women and the later chronicles of the March family. If Louisa May Alcott can be credited with pioneering the American family story, Susan Coolidge may certainly be counted as another important early contributor to the genre of domestic narrative. ![]()
